Cell format

I have some cells that have somehow become like they are frozen. They are not
protected but when right click or select 'Format''Cell' nothing happens and
I can't format those certain cells. Can someone tell me how to fix this
please?

If the contents of the cell are text, then the various number options under
Format Cells will have no effect.
Use =ISTEXT(cellref) and =ISNUMBER(cellref) to tell you whether the contents
are text or number.

Is it just the number formats that you can't change? Can you change colour,
for example?

This is a possible work around for your problem.

Try going to elsewhere in the worksheet to a cell that is OK (ie not,
"frozen").

Copy that (blank) cell to the, "frozen" one.

The "frozen" one should now not be frozen and you should be able to format
as you like.

Please hit Yes if my comments have helped.

Thanks.

It is text and I can't access anything. It won't let me alter borders which
is what I am after in the first place. It won't even bring up any cell
properties.
