I need a formula which calc the required Head count

Task Volume Set Targets Hours worked Head Count
ABC 196500 85 3500 ?????

How would you calculate it on paper?

I guess headcount would be Volume/(Set Targets X Hours Worked)

Assuming you have Volume in cell B2, Set Targets in C2, Hours Worked in D2
and you need the headcount in E2 then enter this formula in E2
=B2/(C2 * D2)

You can copy the formula down Col E if you have data in many rows.

If your formula is different then you can combine B2, C2 and D2 with +, - ,
* (for multiplication) and / (for division) as per your need.

with Excel. It all depends on your definition of "head count".

Fred,

I am not calculating this on the paper. Sheeloo gave the formula which works
fine, but if the volume is in Lakhs and Hours are in thousands which i have
mentioned earlier... i am getting the head count as 0.66

Need your help!!!

Answer cannot be 0.66 Head count, here what i mean to say is: Head count is
the number of people working on one task and able to complete 196500 volume
with 3500 hours.

Here is one such example which is working fine for me which sheeloo gave

Task Volume Set Targets Hours worked Head Count
ABC 5000 65 6 13

My only concern is if the volume is 196500 and hours is 3500, i am getting
the answer 0.66 which is equal to 1 head count, that is, 1 person which is
quite impossible to complete that volume.

You'd better recheck your formula and your numbers. If the set target is
still 65, the answer from the formula is 0.86, not 0.66

Vicky, we understand completely that the answer should not be 0.66. You've
told us that several times.

Now tell us what you think the answer should be. Until you tell us the
result you are looking for, how do you expect anyone to come up with an
appropriate formula?
