directional keys in excel do not move up/down/right/left anymore-

keyboard directional keys do not move across the cells anymore in excel -
they do move dierctionally in word. How do I re-activate them again? It is
not the batteries which I just replaced just in case.

As a guess your scroll lock is enabled. Hit the Scroll Lock key once.
