Excel w/s save

Probably I changed something but now each time I save a w/s it is saving as a
Backup with a file extension of .xlk instead of .xlsm. Also from a remote
connection they show as "Read Only"

Any ideas?

Excel w/s save

Click on File/Save As (2003) or the Office Button (2007) Save As. Check
"Save Type As:" (below filename) to make sure it is set for type you need.

To change the file from "Read Only",
go to My computer,
locate the file
Right-click on it and select Properties
Uncheck "Read Only"

Thanks for the reply. I'm using Office 2007. The problem continues. I
always Save (with the Save button) and "Save As" you said. Excel does Save
both in the correct extension, .xlsm but it automatically makes a "Backup
xxxxx .xlk" As to the "read only" or "notify" I have already done as you
say. "Read only" is unchecked.

Any more ideas?

FYI

Problem solved. Click on 2007 Office Button, Click on Save As, (Box Opens)
lower left corner, Click on Tools, Click on General Options, uncheck Auto
Save box, Click OK and out.
