Pop up formatable positionable message box when hovering over a ce
Hi,
I want to add information text when point to a cell. I need to be able to format the text and color the box as well as position it in the spreadsheet. Comments don't work, Data Validation messages can't be formatted and I haven't had any luck with using a control text box either. Any suggestions? I'm using Excel 2003. Thanks. |

Why don't Comments work for you?
That would definitely be the way to go. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Tue, 10 Nov 2009 09:02:02 -0800, Melody wrote: Hi, I want to add information text when point to a cell. Important step for any of this to work: Insert a comment into a cell, the
select the entire comment (not actively editing text). You can usually doing this by clicking on the editing border of the obect, or press 'esc' once after you begin editing a comment. To change shape: Make sure the drawing toolbar is visible. On the drawing toolbar, click the "Draw" dropdown, then choose "Change autoshape". Pick whatever shape you desire. To change color: Note that you can now format the comment or new 'shape' to whatever color/fill you want, as well as edit the text size/color. Change position: Drag the comment to wherever you want -- Best Regards, Luke M *Remember to click "yes" if this post helped you!* "Melody" wrote: Hi, I want to add information text when point to a cell. Hi Luke,
I was able to change the shape, color, font and text. However, the position is still the default when I point to the cell that the Comment is linked to. I need to be able to format and place where the message I want it to appear when hovering over a particular cell. Thanks for your help. If I could position them where I want them to appear they would work. What
I'm trying to do is add a comment to a heading cell describing the contents of the column. The Comment appears way at the top of the spreadsheet by the heading. Also, because I have freeze panes on there is a line that shows right through the comment. I want to be able to move the Comment lower on the screen and to the right or left of the column for more visibility and be out of the way of that line.
