Saving Sort settings
In the 'olden days' I used Lotus Symphony (DOS version). It had a feature
where you could save various settings like 'Data Sort sequence' and 'Print settings', assigning names to each. I believe Excel can save Print settings in Custom Views, but can't find any reference to saving sort sequences. So in a Music database you could assign names for various sort sequences (Year-Album-Song, Song-Year,etc) and switch back and forth at will. I realize you can accomplish the same thing by adding columns containing numbers representing these sorts. But when data changes you need to change the sequence numders. That Symphony feature was real handy. Why is this feature not used in Excel? Am I missing something? |
