How do I get cells auto fill typing
I know it's possible for cells to automatically fill in typing that is
identical to cells in the same column, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've tried the following: Tools...Options...Edit...Enable Auto Complete...OK. This doesn't work. Any other ideas? |

How do I get cells auto fill typing
1) The cell that you are trying to autocomplete must be contiguous with the other cells with the
values that you want to use in your autocomplete. So you cannot choose A4 and use autocomplete if you want to fill with values from A1 and A2, and A3 is empty. 2) The value must be identifiably unique for the autocomplete to kick in. For example, if you had these two strings in cells A1 and A2 Autocomplete Value that is unique starting at unique Autocomplete Value that is not unique until the word not A3 will not show an autocomplete value until you get to the u for the first "unique" or the n for "not" Another option is to right-click the cell and pick "Choose from List" HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "Andmoreagain" wrote in message ... I'm looking at a list of names, and get no hits as I enter a name, letter by letter. I know it requires the entry to be identical to a cell above it, and won't display results until a letter is typed that will only complete one previous cell from the list in that column. I should mention that it seems to be a sporadic problem though. It does work at times, but not very often. . |
