Is there a way to have '.xlsx' be the default file extension when
selecting 'Save As'? For some reason everytime i go to save a new
workbook it defaults to '.xlt' instead.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Office ButtonExcel OptionsSaveSave Files in this format.

Make the change from dropdown selections and OK your way out.
