paste web without date format

When i paste from a web page, Excel 2007 automatically changes any text that
might be considered a date into date format. In the Excel help, it indicates
that after pasting, a "format options" button should appear that gives you
the choice of maintaining the original format. However, this button never
appears. When pasting a large amount of data, it's not worth it to go in and
re-type all of the cells that are formatted wrong. Any ideas?

The cells will only change if the spreadsheet is formated as General. You
can try to format the enire sheet as text before pasting the data.
