Why does "Calculate" appear in the status bar?
 

Why does "Calculate" appear in the status bar?
 

If this stays displayed then you have calculations set to manual. Use F9 to
force a recalculation. And/or open options and set calculation to automatic

If you mean it displays for a short time when you do something: your
worksheet is so big that the recalculation that always takes place is taking
long enough for you to see this in the status bar.
