calculation and Core 2 Duo or Zeon Processors

Hi, we have a very large spreadsheet which takes 15 minutes to recaculate.
We were running on a Core 2 Duo processor which task manager shows is
utilizing 50% of the processor. On a brand New Zeon Processor it now shows
that it is utilizing only 25% of the processor.

This is the only task this PC has to perform, 24 hours per day x 7 days per
week. Is it possible to utilize the entire processor to speed up the recalc
somehow?

Keith sounds like you may have a memory configuration problem.
Lok on this Microsoft site:

Only Excel 2007 (& 2010) make use of multiple cores. Fast hardware helps but
does not solve the problem.

Its usually possible to speed up Excel calculations by a factor of 10 or 100
by changing the way the calculations are done.
(I was presenting on this yesterday at the London Excel Users Conference)

I suggest you look at my MSDN article on speeding up Excel Calculations (it
applies to ALL versions of Excel)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...21.aspx?ppud=4

and there is more information on my website
http://www.decisionmodels.com/

Your target should be to get the calculation time down to seconds rather
than 15 minutes
