Excel Files Won"t Open Automatically

Excel 2007
I have just installed my copy of Excel on my new computer. When I click on
one of my files to open, Excel opens, (a shaded verson), but the file will
not open. If I click back on My Documents tab at the bottom, then click back
on the Excel tab, the file opens.

Don't have 2007 here but in 2003 you need to select

Tools - Options - General Tab - uncheck ignore Other Applications.

Thanks Jim, but I have the settings exactly as I had on my old system - it
just will not open.
