Excel - Find and Replace function takes a long time

We have several individuals using Office 2007 and Office 2003 reporting that
the find and replace function is taking a very long time all of the sudden.
The documents they are working on are rather large, but they have been able
to use the find and replace function for several months and it would only
take a few seconds. Now all of the sudden it can take up to 2 minutes to
perform the find and replace. Any suggestions would be appreciated

If there are any formulas in the current or other open excel files, they will
recalculate with yoru replacements. Some formulas will recalcuate with every
since replacement. Is thsi the only open file? Are there new formulas in
there?

If all of your replacement items are in one column, highlight that column and
then run your replace, especially with text. Otherwise, I agree with Sean as
to whether a formula has changed and is recalculating.
