Protecting cell formulas in excel 2007
Hi folks,
I have a pretty simple spreadsheet in excel 2007 and I need to protect some of the formulas from being deleted or edited. I can protect the whole sheet but then users cannot enter data in ANY cell. What am I doing wrong? I just want to protect the cells with formuls in them. Al |

You need to unset the "locked" attribute for the relevant cells, under
Format Cells/ Protection, before you protect the worksheet. By default the locked attribute is set for all cells. All cells are "locked" by default, but "locking" does not take effect unless
you protect the worksheet from the "Tools-Protection" menu. having said that, you need to first select any cells that a user is allowed to change (select multiple cells using the CTRL) and select all those cells at once and then hit Ctrl+1 and go to the "Security" tab and unlock those cells. Then go to Tools-Protection-Protect Sheet. if you want you can assign a password hope this helps? -kc *Click YES if this helps "Al Taylor" wrote: Hi folks, I have a pretty simple spreadsheet in excel 2007 and I need to protect some of the formulas from being deleted or edited.
