I have costs in one column and different operatives in another and need to
extract the cost of each operative but the cells with the operative code in
also has the week number. I need a formula to just pick out the code. The
data in the cells looks like this: WP:W52:3 :BEV01 The code BEV01 denotes
the operative. Any ideas

I did try that but didn't really know what I was doing. I ended up with the
data W52: BEV01 in the cell.

What I have is a cost of labour on a contract. there are different
operatives on the contract and each operative has a code. Every week the
payroll produces a cost is put into the contract in one cell beside the
operative code and wk number in the other cell. This contract is virtually a
year long so each week the week number changes but I need to extract the cost
of each operative according to their code. For example
WP:W52:3 :BEV01 £38.88
WP:W19:3 :HAS01 £420.00
WP:W19:3 :BEV01 £1200
I need a total of the cost of BEV01
