Locked cells in Excel

When I lock even just a few cells in Excel, it seems that functions such as
AutoSum, Copy, etc. stop working. What do I need to do to just prevent the
inadvertant entry of data into cells with formulas but still have everything
else work as normal?

I don't think that there's anything that you can do to have everything else
(that's a bigggggggggg list) work as normal.

Lots of features are disable when the worksheet is protected.

You may be able to get around some of these restrictions by having a macro that
does what you want, but first checks to see if it's ok to continue, unprotects
the sheet, does what you want, and then reprotects your sheet.

But if your list of things to support is really longggggggg, you may find it's
not worth the trouble.
