Hi All not sure where to post this but thought i would try here and see if i
got a response, ok here goes I have developed a database tracking system that could be used in colleges accross the country, does anyone know if i would be able to copyright the system even though it uses excel to work ?? Cheers Colin x |

Certainly. There are many commercial, copyrighted works based on Excel. You
wouldn't be distributing Excel, which is Microsoft's property, but a file to use with Excel which is your creation and can be copyrighted. The real trick is to protect your workbook from misuse or theft. You might consider licensing using tools such as (not a recommendation of any - I haven't used any yet) LogicNP's CryptoLicensing for ActiveX CryptKey SoftwareShield a search for something like 'software licensing tools' will probably reveal others also.
