Excel 2007 adding a column of negative and positive number
I have a column of 4600 number that should equal zero as they are for
entering journal entries so they must balance to zero. I have done functions: roundup, rounddown, trunc, mround, and the individual cells show only two decimal pionts for example 4,120.33. when I add the column it adds up to zero until I start expanding the zeros after the decimal. When I get to about six places right of the decimal there is a value. None of my numbers have any values beyond two decimal places. |

Thanks for the reply. I have tried all those things.
I have even reentered the numbers to be certain that 4.22 is 4.220000000000 and not 4.220000001. Can it have something to do with positive and negative numbers. When I do a pivot some of the totals are "-" and some are (0.00) and some are 0.00. The "-" ones actually do add up to zero to the 20th decimal place. The others have value in the 7th decimal place even though the data has zeros after the first two decimal places all the way to 20th decimal. |
