Excel opens 2 copies of every document - one in compatibility mode
Every time I open an Excel document that was created in Excel 2007 format, it
also performs a file conversion and opens a duplicate copy labeled something like XI0000011 [Read-Only] [Compatibility Mode]. Can anyone help me turn this off? Thanks |

Has anyone else seen this? I've seen a few other people asking about this on
the web, but no answers. "pb787878" wrote: Every time I open an Excel document that was created in Excel 2007 format, it also performs a file conversion and opens a duplicate copy labeled something like XI0000011 [Read-Only] [Compatibility Mode]. Can anyone help me turn this off? Thanks |

In which version are you opening the 2007 workbook?
Do you have the Compatibility Pack installed? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923505 Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Sat, 19 Sep 2009 07:31:01 -0700, pb787878 wrote: Has anyone else seen this? I think I finally solved the problem. I was using Excel 2007 and had the
compatibility pack installed. No sure the compatibility pack got installed, I think it was thru a Microsoft update. Once I uninstalled the compatibility pack, my problem went away. Thanks for responding. Paul "Gord Dibben" wrote: In which version are you opening the 2007 workbook? Thanks for letting us know.
Strange though. I have 2003 and 2007 installed and the Comp'y Pack and do not get the two files when using 2007.
