I am trying to format rows that change color when the status of a column
within those rows changes. Any help is appreciated.

Conditional Formatting

Select row. conditional formatting, Formula is:
=$A2="Desired Status"
Choose desired color.

Modify formula to match your column and desired status. Note the use of the
aboslute reference ($) to force all cells within the row to look at a single
column.
Copy formatting down as desired.
