Row height not auto adjusting on wrapped cells (Excel '07)
I have a worksheet with cells that I want the text to wrap. I turned on text
wrapping for the entire worksheet but the text in the cells won't wrap. I have read through a bunch of posts from people having similar issues to mine in other versions of Excel and have done everything recommended: I removed and verified that there are no merged cells anywhere in the worksheet. I turned protection off for the entire sheet. I checked that the wrap text box in format cells - alignment is checked and not shaded (when the entire worksheet is selected). When I highlight all of the rows being used, the wrap text button lights up. When I highlight all of the columns being used, the wrap text button lights up. What am I missing? Some reference an AutoFit option but I can't find it in '07. Is there a macro I should be using? Any help is appreciated. |

You have to tell Excel where to start a new line?
Try this: 1) type the word "apple" 2) hold the ALT key and tap the ENTER key 3) type the word "pie" You should see one word over the other best wishes -- Bernard V Liengme Microsoft Excel MVP http://people.stfx.ca/bliengme remove caps from email "Dave" wrote in message ... I tried your suggestion in a cell that is formatted to wrap and nothing
happens. The cell did not resize (get taller) automatically to show "pie". If I have to put a hard return in, then there is no reason to have the wrap text option. I am looking for an option/macro that will automatically size the row as the text goes beyond the width of the column. Maybe I am not understanding what text wrapping means in Excel. I will just reformat the sheet with "taller" rows so the text will be readable. Thanks "Bernard Liengme" wrote: You have to tell Excel where to start a new line?
