Every time I try to open Excel a windows installer pops up.
It was working fine until recently.

FWIW when my XL2003 (version 11.0) broke (different problem to you), I
followed all steps on both sites before manually pruning the Registry. If
you reach this stage, make sure you prune the right registry key.
