Replacing numeric X-axis labels with corresponding text string

I have created an X-Y scatter chart whose X-Axis has Time-of-Day (TOD) values
from -12 (noon) to 0 (midnight) to +12 (noon following day). To make the
chart more readable, I would like to replace the X-Axis labels with their
corresponding "text" TOD. For example, 12 would be Noon, 0 would be Midnite,
-1 would be 11PM, +1 would be 1AM. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Make a LINE chart (not XY which needs numbers) with your times as the
x-values

Replacing numeric X-axis labels with corresponding text string

Bernard,

My data necessitates an XY Scatter chart - I am plotting events that occur
at uneven intervals during a time period (typically 8hrs). All my charting
is complete.

What I now want to do is, exchange (or map) each x-axis label (numeric -12
to +12) with a text string where -12 & =+12 would be "noon", 0 would be
"midnight". I've read some other folks' posts (with responses from Jon
Peltier & others) that hint that this may be doable (maybe with a table
Lookup or a dummy X-Axis). Thanks.
