YESHWANT JOSHI[_2_]

cell automatically changing format
 
in excel 2000, i have a column formatted as general. if i edit the same, do
or does not chage the value of the cell, and press enter it automatically get
changed to "MM/DD/YYYY" format . what could be the reason and remedy for
the same. thanx in advance

Hi,

That sounds like Excel trying to be helpful, if you enter something that
looks like a date then Excel will format it as a date. Try entering a ' in
the cell before you enter your values, it won't show in the cell.

all those cell contains formulas and so putting ' in the beginning will not
solve my problem
