Gridlines
There are never any gridlines when I open Excel. I have gridlines checked in
everthing I can find but still they are not there. What else can I do? -- Carol |

Check to see if you have a book.xlt template file in your XLStart folder.
Maybe it's set up not to show gridlines. If you do, you can open it (as a template), change the gridlines to show and resave it. Carol wrote: There are never any gridlines when I open Excel. Use windows search to look for either book.xlt or xlstart (or both!).
For me (winXP home and xl2003), it's he C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART And depending on your upgrade path, you may have multiple locations. I have Vista (another headache!) so can't find any of this stuff.

Hit alt-f11 to see the VBE (where macros live) hit ctrl-g to see the immediate window type this ?application.startuppath Make a note of the location. ps. You should have at least one XLStart folder, but you may not have any
templates named book.xlt within that folder.
