excel wants to replace what i type with the word "back".
 

For some reason, every time i type the letter "m", which i use to designate a
particular type of entry, excel replaces it with the word "back". Any
suggestions as to what's going on?

You might have an AutoCorrect option set to replace "m" with "back"


Go to Tools|AutoCorrect Options and in the AutoCorrect tab look through
the list in the bottom section... If you see one with an "m" in the left
column, you can delete it... or you can just uncheck the "Replace Text
as you Type" option.. but this will disable all autocorrecting.
