how can i convert .dxf files to something i can read

I've been sent drawings in .dxf format but these will not open on my computer
- anyone help please

IIRC, Autocad has a free viewer:

(One line in your browser)

And if you search google.com for "free viewer autocad" (w/o the quotes), you'll
find lots of alternatives.
