Hyperlink .tif files

Hello,
I have come to a stand still and hoping for some guidance.
I need to hyperlink blueprints that are in a .tif format to an excel file.
I can see the .tif files if I select "All Files" when browsing to the
location, but when I actually try the link, it gives me the error:" cannot
open the specified file"

Is it possible to hyperlink tif files in excel?
THX

Have you told Windows what program to use to open .tif files? ...

Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | File Types (tab)

Thanks Jim,
I have gone through and set it up to read the tif files in association with
Microsoft Document imaging file, but It now decided that : "No program is
registered to open this file" would be my new error message...
I guess if we have a registered program to open these files, I would be all
set with your suggestion. ( I would have thought that "Microsoft Document
Imaging" would the registered program, since we use that here all the time
to open our scanned in blue prints).
Oh, well, We will try other options.

Again thank you for hearing my concern and answering.
Driftwood.
