I cannot replicate this.
My default image viewer is FastStone viewer and that's what opens when I click on a hyperlink to a *.jpg I re-associated *.jpgs with three different applications and they all did their thing from a hyperlink in Excel. Have you tried......in Explorer.......to right-click on a *.jpg and "Open With" and point to Windows Fax and Picture Editor. Set to "always open with". Hi
I have done some tests and the results have been very weird! I changed the default image editor to NERO photosnap. This now opened jpegs. Unfortunately when I inserted another hyperlink to a jpeg, IE7 continued to open the image. However, when I inserted a tiff image, then Windows Picture and Fax Viewer opened up the image. I then inserted a hyperlink to a giff image and this time MS Photoeditor opened the image. All very strange! I then noticed that I have 'Windows Live Photo Gallery' installed. - Could this be messing with the processs? I look forward to your further guidance Roman -- surfing69 "Gord Dibben" wrote: I cannot replicate this. i found someone else who is experiencing the same problem - see the following
link http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3768885.php it probably isnt 'windows live photo gallery' but it could be something to do with SP3 for XP.(??) -- surfing69 "Gord Dibben" wrote: I cannot replicate this. I am fully updated with all service packs for Windows XP and Office 2003.
I do not have Windows Live Photo Gallery installed so cannot test with that. Have you cleared out your Temporary Internet Files recently? If not, I would suggest doing so. unfortunatley deleting temp internet files or uninstalling Windows live photo
editor did not solve the issue. Did you manage to read the comments in the link that I sent u? i.e. http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3768885.php This problem appears to be affecting other users and appears to have occurred recently. Yes, I read the comments.
I have no ideas for you if the registry changes don't help as they did for another user. "Just to Update : I added the registry key suggested (I realised it is a new key), and this does solve the problem for me. This confirms this works for Office 97 as well as Office 2003." unfortunately the registry change did not work.
I then uninstalled IE7 back to IE6. This time, when I created a hypelink to a jpeg, a black msdos command box appeared, then IE6 tried to launch at the same time as my default image app. Is there any way that this issue can be submitted directly to Microsoft ? -- surfing69 "Gord Dibben" wrote: Yes, I read the comments. Having never experienced your problem, I can't say what to do about it.
Countless other users of Excel and IE6 do not have the problem and this is the first time I have seen mention of it. Maybe you could post over in one of the Internet Explorer newsgroups? If it is an issue that MS finds worthy of attention then someone monitoring the Communities might address your concerns based upon the following. This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. To vote for this suggestion, click the "I Agree" button in the message pane. If you do not see the button, follow this link to open the suggestion in the Microsoft Web-based Newsreader and then click "I Agree" in the message pane. http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...lic.excel.misc Gord On Sat, 13 Jun 2009 11:23:01 -0700, Roman wrote: unfortunately the registry change did not work. i am not sure where you are directing me to? The link u pasted in your last
email just took me back to the excel general questions discussion group. Please explain further. I have also already asked the same question in the Outlook Express MSN discussion group under Internet Explorer General but have little useful feedback. I am aware that I am not the only one who has/is experiencing this issue. -- surfing69 "Gord Dibben" wrote: Having never experienced your problem, I can't say what to do about it.
