I need to highlight cell A in Yellow if any of the cells G thru AE in that
row are highlighted in any color but white (no color). How do I do this?

Here is another complication to this:
Add 17 in cell A if cell G is highlighted,
Add 10 in cell A for each cell from H thru P that is highlighted
Add 1 in cell A for each cell from Q thru AA that is highlighted
Add 11 in cell A if cell AB is highlighted
Add 1 in cell A for each cell from AC thru AE that is highlighted

Hi Vic,
Your first request can be done with conditional formatting in XL2007 only.
If you have an earlier version, you will need macros.
Your second request, I believe, can only be done with macros in any version.
You need to know WHEN you want those things to happen.
Is it when one of the cells changes its highlight condition to something
other than white? What do you want to happen if a coloured cell becomes clear
again?

Regards - Dave.

Thank you Dave.
I am using 2003 Excel. Cells don't become clear because I don't update them.
I don't know how to write macros and what to do with them after they are
written. Can you please show me the macro and steps required to plug it in.
One more thing. I usually get the spreadsheet from another person on a weekly
basis. I copy specific rows and columns and place them into a tab (one of the
spreadsheets) in my summary file. After I place the spreasheet in my file I
need to to apply that macro to newly updated spreadsheet.
Thank you
