hi,

i just wanted to know whether any short cut is available for the format
painter(brush)in the Excel.

I don't think so but you can get the same effect by
Alt-e, s, t
(Edit-Paste Special-Formats)
or
Right-click, s, t

You will have to copy the source cell first.

either follow the above mentioned by Shee or create a macro and assign
your own shortcut to it.
