restricted values error message
 

I was given a spreadsheet to fill in. All cells are unprotected, but when I
try to enter a number in the data cells, it says that I can't because the
cell has "restricted values". The values for the cells are noted as 1-5.
Entering those numbers, I get the error message, when I don't think I should.

How can I "unrestrict" the restricted values?

I do suggest that you feedback to/discuss with the source party for the
spreadsheet, rather than mess around with the restrictions/controls imposed
on your own.

Sounds like the cells have data validation applied. To check for that:

Select one of those cells
Goto the menu DataValidation
See any settings there?
