How to assign datalabels to a scatter chart, obtaining the labels.
 

How to assign data labels to the points of an xy scatter diagram (excell
2003)? The labels are to be fetched from a column in the data sheet, but not
from one of the columns containing the x- and y-values. This should be
possible. How can I do this?

You can use Rob Bovey's XY Chart Labeler to add labels. It's a free
add-in that you can download from his web site:
