yes.
in 2003, high light the titles at the top then.....
right clickformat cellsalignment taborientation
there is a spin button. up to slant text up, down to slant text down.

Can I create a set of vertical titles at the top of a page?
 
For better appearance, put borders around the "slanted" cells after you have
followed the advice of the other responders.

Note: the cell will not actually be slanted but will look like it is.
