Date dd/mm/yy in the cell, but mm/dd/yy in formula bar
I am being supplied a file that displays date as 06/05/09 in the cell, but
05/06/09 in the formula bar. Cell is displaying the value I need, formula bar is not. Cell is a 'custom' format. When I change to any other format and try and put it back to date, it becomes 5 June instead of 6 May. HELP!! |

If you give that cell an unambiguous date format like: mmmm dd, yyyy
You'll see the real date/value in that cell. It sounds to me like the person who supplied the workbook didn't import the dates correctly -- I'm guessing that the dates came from a text file and they were imported incorrectly. They may have looked pretty (as dates), but they didn't represent what the original data needed. I'd go back to that person and ask them to import the data again and be very careful with how those fields are imported. sfp wrote: I am being supplied a file that displays date as 06/05/09 in the cell, but 05/06/09 in the formula bar.
