Excel 2002: Why I could not sort month/year text now ?
 

Hi,

I could sort the month / year text in ascending or descending order without
having to convert it to a date previously :

E.g.

January 2008
February 2008
March 2008

However after my system recovered from a virus attack, I find that this
function is no more working.

I find that I could only sort after using Text to Column to convert the tect
to a date format such as:

Jan-08
Feb-08
Mar-08.

Is there anything I could do to restore the original sorting functionality ?

Maybe you had a Custom List set up originally.
ToolsOptionsCustom Liststype your list in the white paneOK
Then, the sort will take place in the way that you require.
