Formula bar - Excel 2007

Hello!

I'm just making the transition to the new Excel.

When the formula is too long, in the old Excel, the formula bar
auromatically "grows" more lines in order to let you see all the formula at
once.

In Excel 2007, when this happens, i still only have one line in the formula
bar, and a scroll down bar appears to the right so I can scroll down. This is
quite inconvenient. I can also drag the lower part of the formula bar and
make it as many rows long as I want, but then it stays with that size until I
manually make it smaller again. This is quite manual intensive, so
inconvenient also.

Any way to make it work as in the old excel? (I know, I sound like a grumpy
grandma reluctant to change, but it's driving me mad!!!)

Thanks!

With your cursor in the formula barRight clickExpand Formula bar /

If its any consolation - it took me a while to find that one!!!

:-)

There is a butoon marked (turn this vertical) at the right corner... You
can also drag the bottom of the bar...

Thanks to both, both answers do the same but in different ways, good to know!

I still don't like it as much as the old, since you still need 1 more click
than before (everything in new excel seems to require more clicks than
before!) and also, it does not resize automatically... It always opens to the
size you dragged the formula bar downwards last time.

I guess I'm a grumpy grandma after all!

Resisting change is human nature. Also adapting a new way of life is tough...

Once you get over the initial hump it is a pleasure to work in the new
version... there are very few who agree with me though :-(

Hi

Not quite, Sheelo's method is better - one less click!!

Like Sheelo, I do like the new interface, although I spend the vast majority
of my time in Xl2003, because that's what most of my clients currently use.

Don't you just hate it in XL2003 when long formulae spread over the sheet
and blocked you seeing column headers? I certainly do, and that is just one
of the new features which I think is a definite change for the better.

Happy to find someone who agrees with me...

I love COUNTIFS, the way I get to see the arguments of a formula...,
ERRORIF, how conditional formatting can be applied (though most hate it),...

I like to compare Office 2007 to hybrid cars and 2003 to other cars...
