How do I enable default to show gridlines on an inserted worksheet?
I have a couple of notebooks that do not show gridlines on new sheets.
I know how to make them on. How do I set the default for this? J |

Click Tools/Options on Excel's menu bar, click the View tab on the dialog
box that appears and put a check mark in the checkbox labeled "Gridlines" in the "Window options" section of the panel. -- Rick (MVP - Excel) "J" wrote in message ... Excel will use a template file named Book.xlt on which to base new workbooks. Similarly, it will use a template file name Sheet.xlt for newly created sheets. These files are in the XLStart folder, whose location depends on your version of Excel and of Windows. There may be more than one XLStart folder. Use Search to find them and then customize Book.xlt and Sheet.xlt to your desired format and save the templates. Thank you for your response. New workbooks are fine. Most workbooks are fine. Two do not show gridlines for new sheets. Is it possible to fix just the unhappy workbooks? I'm not quite sure I understand. Are you saying that when you insert a new
sheet into some workbooks, you see gridlines and when you insert a new sheet into others (a few), then you don't see gridlines? I don't have a good explanation for that. Maybe you have an event macro in those workbooks that changes some display settings??? But until you find the answer, maybe you could add an icon to your favorite toolbar. In xl2003 menus: Tools|Customize|Commands Tab|Forms Category Drag the "toggle grid" icon to your favorite toolbar. In xl2007, you can add that icon to your QAT if you don't like going through the ribbon. J wrote: Thank you for your response. New workbooks are fine. Most workbooks are fine.
