Calculating and entering time.
 

I have read previous threads and I am confused. I want to enter time in and
time out in hh:mm, so you can type 1930 to read 19:30. Also I want to be able
to calculate the time spent (out from in) and then use the result to multiply
a rate. Any simple ideas?

type in ##":"##
click OK

This will show you 19:30 when you type 1930 but is not a true time value,
hence, you will not get correct result if you want to do calculation

If you need to do calculation as mentioned, you need to input the : as 9:30
and use this formula to find the number of hours differences between
start and end time
A2= Start time
B2= End time
in C2 =MOD(B2-A2,1)*24, format as General or Number
