Excel2000 running but window is gone
 

-running Excel 2000 SR-1 on XP SP2
-occasionally the Excel app window just…disappears!?!
-there is still an excel.exe process running

I've tried _without_ success
-ALT+TAB does _not_show EXCEL
-TaskMgr, App tab does _not_show EXCEL - so cannot Switch To
-restarting Explorer.exe

When I open the same document while already opened in the 1st Excel
instance
I do get the File In Use dialog, etc.

So I kill excel.exe via TaskMgr & re-launch

Any other ideas to re-connect with that wayward Excel process?
