I had a large Excel file that when I try to re-open I get an error stating
that it no longer exists. I have searched my hard drive to see if I happen to have saved it elsewhere but no luck. I looked in the directory that Excel saves the autosave files and the one labled with autosave is empty. Is there any way to go back and recover an earlier version of the file? Or am I S.O.L.? Any insight would be appreciated. Francisco |

Check the recycle bin.
Make sure your search is done all on drives. Maybe you renamed it. Check for that. Have you ever provided a copy to anyone - have them send you a copy. Did you ever email it as an attachment - find that email. Are you on a corporate network - if so your IT people may have a backup. And from now on... -- Jim Cone Portland, Oregon USA "fmontes" wrote in message I had a large Excel file that when I try to re-open I get an error stating that it no longer exists. Thank you Jim. I have tried your suggestions already. Unfortunately this
happened a few days ago and I just noticed it when I tried opening the file to update it. It is on a home PC and as I mentioned Excel does not see it thwere it was saved to and the Autosave directory contains the Autosaved document but is is blank. "Jim Cone" wrote: Check the recycle bin.
