Auto populate this cell based on what's typed in this cell
How do I do this?
In my budget spreadsheet, need to auto-populate an entry in Column E based on what is typed in Column A. Have account #'s 200-294. If "213" is typed in any cell in Column A - I want the cell in that same row of Column E to read "Computers". If "294" is typed in Column A, I want Column E in that row to say "Vehicles". I have 31 accounts (column A) that need to be matched w/ a category (column E) which is too much for the IF formula. |

You should use VLOOKUP().
Very well explained: http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200844 "CrazyChic" wrote: How do I do this?
