Is there is a 90% chance of a logic error per 150 lines per workbo
Can anyone confirm and provide references of occurrences independent of a
direct quote by David Permenter on page 149 in his book Pareto's 80/20 Rule for Corporate Accountants (2007) published by Wiley ISBN 9780470125434 who says - " For every 150 lines there is a 90% chance of a logic error (from a recent study)". Can anyone give me the details of the study he refers to or quote where I may get more information on this problem? Thanks Jay |

Try this
http://www.google.com/search?source=...rch&aq= f&oq= and this in particular http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retri...67923697000389 Jay wrote: Can anyone confirm and provide references of occurrences independent of a direct quote by David Permenter on page 149 in his book Pareto's 80/20 Rule for Corporate Accountants (2007) published by Wiley ISBN 9780470125434 who says - " For every 150 lines there is a 90% chance of a logic error (from a recent study)". Hi Bob,
I shall go through the different references on both URLs suggested and they appear to be at least focussing on the error or problem reported by David Parmenter. Thanks Jay "Bob I" wrote: Try this http://www.google.com/search?source=...rch&aq= f&oq= and this in particular http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retri...67923697000389 Jay wrote: Can anyone confirm and provide references of occurrences independent of a direct quote by David Permenter on page 149 in his book Pareto's 80/20 Rule for Corporate Accountants (2007) published by Wiley ISBN 9780470125434 who says - " For every 150 lines there is a 90% chance of a logic error (from a recent study)". You're welcome, basically anytime you have piles of code there will be
bugs. For instance another rule of thumb is, "For every two programming bugs you correct, you will create another." That "study" just reduces the reality of coding to statistics. :-) Jay wrote: Hi Bob, I shall go through the different references on both URLs suggested and they appear to be at least focussing on the error or problem reported by David Parmenter.
