New Install of Excel

I just downloaded MicroSoft 2007 Office Home & Student. It's on the computer
but when I got to open an exsisting file it will not open, nor will it just
open up Microsoft Word or Excel from the program menu.

after you download it, do you need to double-click it to install it?
