hi ,

Is there any way i can get excel to accept multiple delimiters when
importing from a text file to an excel worksheet?

Thanks,
Hassan

What all are you trying to use? By just using the check boxes, you can use
commas, semicolons, tab, space, and 1 other symbol/character of your choice.

Yes, just click on more than one check box when specifying delimiters in the
text import wizard.

Fred.

You should be prompted on the wizard that allows multiple delimiters. But you
only get one "other" delimeter.

When I have this kind of thing, I'll either edit the text file and change all
the other delimiters to a single common delimiter.

Or I'll bring in the text file into a single column and do the change in excel.
Then use data|text to columns to parse the data.

hi,

Basically i am trying to import a file which seperates the data with '|' and
space...so i needed to see if i can specify blank space as well as '|' as a
delimiter.

Thanks for your help :)

Check the box for Space
Check the box for Other
Enter "|" in the box beside Other.

Fred.
