Pivot Table problem,
Hi,
I have a PT with data in a text file. I've learned that you can do wonderful things with the Value display options in a PT but I'm wondering if I'm asking too much and if I need to a) add in some calculated values b) go back and add some stuff to the underlying data in the text file. I have a .gif picture here that explains it all. http://www.fransysco.net/frogs/frogs2.gif TIA M.G. |
Pivot Table problem,
Hi, for calculated values, right click the field - select field settings - options - select "difference from" and select the base items To add data, it is best to use "Dynamic ranges" You can find info on both solutions at 'Excel -- Pivot Tables -- Custom Calculations' (http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot10.html) and 'Excel -- Names -- Naming Ranges' (http://www.contextures.com/xlNames01.html#Dynamic) Michel Groff;284280 Wrote: Hi, I have a PT with data in a text file. Pivot Table problem,
Well I don't see how the stuff on the site addresses the issue.
Maybe I am too dumb ? The first link is an intro to the subtilities of the value display options. The seond one is about referencing a range using offset. I don't how that solves my problem. Could you spell it out for me ? pls. MG |

Pivot Table problem,
Excellent.
Thanks. This does appear to be the solution. I'm working on it and will let you know, maybe next week. MG "Herbert Seidenberg" a écrit dans le message de news: ... Excel 2007 Pivot Table Running % total. http://www.mediafire.com/file/4hwcwaui2ea/03_26_09.xlsx |
Pivot Table problem,
Herbert,
I don't understant this syntax =1/nbval([name]) Should I understand 1 divided by the number of items having this name ? It's not working for me in Excel 2007. Anyway, my data is not in an XL spreadsheet, its in a text file. I think I will have to get the percent result (the dividend) in the text file data before excel can doit's work. Or, at least, the quotient and the divisor. Please advise. "Michel Groff" a écrit dans le message de news: ... Excellent. Thanks. This does appear to be the solution.
