Move direction problem when protected
 

I have a 5 sheet workbook in Excel 2002, sp3 that I have protected and
unprotected cells in each worksheet. Something happened recently that I can
not figure out . when I turn protection on for each worksheet all is fine
except in the first worksheet. The up, down, left and right move arrows keys
will now only move to the left or right and only in one row. There are
several rows and columns with unprotected cells and the direction keys work
fine when protected with "select protected cells and unprotected cells" is
checked but when only "select unprotected cells" is checked the problem
occurs.
