scroll lock in Excel only

When I open an EXCEL spreadsheet, my mouse and keyboard are locked in scroll
or something. Everything I drag my the mouse over gets highlighted like
scroll lock. I cannot click on any of the commands after that happens and
the only way to close EXCEL is with control-alt-delete. The scroll lock on
the keyboard is NOT on. Can anyone help me!!!

Usual cause of this is you have hit the F8 key which puts you into "Extended
Mode"

Do you see "EXT" on the lower right of the Status Bar?

Hit F8 to clear.

Nope - hitting the F8 key did not help. This problem is only happening in
Excel?

Excel 2007?

Try setting the Zoom level a little lower or higher.

The multiple cell selection is a bug in Excel 2007.

The zoom-changing appears to fix it.
