I have received a file with .xlsx extension. How can I open the file in Excel
2003

How can you open files with extension xlsx?
 

I would try renaming it to .xls. Probably best to make a copy of it and
experiment on that.

Microsoft provides a "compatibility pack" that allows that.
You need both the pack and the service pack...

version.
