Turn off selecting multiple cells with one click

At the bottom of a spreadsheet I work in it automatically selects 3-4 cells
when I click. Extend selection is not on, what else can I do to stop it?

Make sure the cells are not merged.

Under the Alignment tab on the FORMAT CELLS dialog, clear the check box
against Merge Cells.

Funny...the cells aren't merged, check box is not checked, but when I select
unmerge from the merge center it fixes the problem.
Weird.

Thanks, Shay
